A Collection of Things

I've had a kind of busy month, but things are returning to normal over here. I hope you all had a good holiday season? Hope your Januaries turned out alright? Now that we've all given up on our New Year's resolutions, let's try to make the best of it! Onward to 2013!

This Sphinx was drawn for an artist's group I'm a part of. She is nothing but trouble, trust me.

Here we see Elrond and Thorin mulling over Orcrist. I'm still in the habit of toying with Tolkien character concepts, much like the doodles of the five wizards after the break. I drew those in my excitement for the Hobbit premiere.

Silmarillion Concept Sketches

I'm a big Tolkien fan, and the Silmarillion has way more stuff going on than the other books. I've picked it up off and on over the years, and I've never really had time to finish it.

This is a sketch I'm in the process of turning into a painting. I don't normally paint, so it's...an experiment. The scene is High King Fingolfin's one-on-one duel with Morgoth, Sauron's boss back in the day and more or less the Middle-earth version of Lucifer. If you're interested and brave enough, I'd suggest checking the Silmarillion out.

More concept work after the break!

Piggies

Just playing around with some cartoony pigs. I might borrow one or two of them for future projects...

Some Sketches

I was in San Diego with my family the other week, and I got a chance to draw a whole bunch of complete strangers.

These drawings were all very quick, between 30 and 50 seconds tops.

Some Birds of Prey

Just some quick sketches of raptors. I figure some content would be nice while I still try to figure this place out.

More after the break!
