Artist Trading Cards Volume 1 - More Glyos
I wanted to try my hand at some Artist Trading Cards. I've seen them around and I think it's a wonderful idea. For my first batch, I decided to doodle some Glyos characters, because I really think what Matt Doughty has going on over there is a wonderful thing more people need to be made aware of.
They're hand-cut 2.5x3.5 Prismacolor drawings, and I'm definitely going to do some more of these!

Another Drabblecast cover!
I did another cover for the wonderful people at the Drabblecast. It's a great show, you should really go listen. This week's episode was two stories by Frank Key. Pretty awesome stuff.
Check it out here!

Some Designs!
So, I've had these characters hanging around for a while now. You may even recognize the golem from a long time ago. For one reason or another, I've had a very strong urge to try my hand at some serious stop motion recently, and I think that'd be a good way to do something with these designs. The golem is going to be a challenge, but I think that's part of the fun.
The ruined tower is where the fairy lives. Her design is pretty much complete, but the golem is just too much fun to explore, and since he's going to be so specifically complicated, I may find he winds up looking very different in the final. Not that I mind, of course. They're really fun to draw...

A Collection of Things
I've had a kind of busy month, but things are returning to normal over here. I hope you all had a good holiday season? Hope your Januaries turned out alright? Now that we've all given up on our New Year's resolutions, let's try to make the best of it! Onward to 2013!
This Sphinx was drawn for an artist's group I'm a part of. She is nothing but trouble, trust me.
Here we see Elrond and Thorin mulling over Orcrist. I'm still in the habit of toying with Tolkien character concepts, much like the doodles of the five wizards after the break. I drew those in my excitement for the Hobbit premiere.

King Arcen the Bold
At the Battle of Rainbow Bridge, he hewed the heads of fifteen giants, and drank their blood from a silver-plated skull. Of all the Fairy Kings, he is the first to arms and the last to leave the battlefield. It is said that his hooves on the green earth to sprout with white lilies, that turn bright red before they wither and die. His sword is thunderbolt iron, his mane is holy fire, and his horn is solid gold.
He is Arcen the Bold, Arcen-Cel, Fairy King and Father of Unicorns.
I finally had a good excuse to draw this character. He's been hanging around the back of my head for at least a year in various forms, and with multiple backstories. I've been super busy since CTN, and I still have a whole bunch of stuff I'm going through. We'll see what happens.
